World Series of Beer Pong

The World Series of Beer Pong is underway once again in Las Vegas, Nevada. Besides the Adult Video Awards the one thing I will regret missing in Las Vegas for 2008 will be this. There is a $50,000 prize for first place and it looks like about 600 people entered. To be honest I don’t think my pong skillz are up to the task to win it but I would imagine getting that many people dedicated to beer pong in one general area would be nothing but good times.

It has often been theorized that one day technology would spoil us so much that we would all become complacent(More than we already are…). When robots deliver, open, and pour our beers what will become of our society? It appears that we are getting there. It’s a clunky start but it is quite obvious what robots will be doing for us in the future. If only it didn’t pour so much head.

Bill Gates invests in beer

Bill Gates has invested $392 million dollars into the Femsa company. They are a coke bottler as well as the brewer for Tecate as well as other beers. The stock prices shot up shortly after though it does make me think a bit. Beer is probably a great investment … just as long as it isn’t sitting in my fridge.

So you go to your local 7-11 to pick up a few brews after a hard day of surfing the internet and pretending to work. When you arrive home you make a terrible discovery…

The beer is warm.

It’s a terrible scenario that is quite rare. But has probably happened to anyone who drinks as much of the stuff as I do. Sure you can fill a bucket with ice and salt and water and have some cold beer withing about 5 minutes. But why wait 5 minutes?

A young New Zealander may be on his way to making a pretty penny with this great invention which apparently chills a beer in just a few seconds.

This seems like a terrific idea to me. I just wish I had thought of it first…

I currently have a very unused MAME cabinet in my house. Though I do have the distinct feeling that if it had a keg attached to it I would use it much more. Some cup holders would be nice as well. I would like to see a nice DIY project for something like this.

How do you solve a litter problem AND a housing problem?

Alfred Heineken saw a problem. Perhaps the solution was too far ahead of the times. Having a house made from empty beer bottles seems like a fun way of recycling to me. I would venture a guess that the structures created may not be the sturdiest around but if you are living in the Caribbean it seems like a creative solution to a problem they still have today.

Apparently Wade Boggs was a serious beer swiller.

“Oh, I’d say, on a typical road trip, east coast to west coast [Nelly played with Boggs on the Yankees], say a road game to Seattle……Wade would drink anywhere between 50 and 60 beers.”

50 or 60?Wade Boggs is definitely not allowed to come over to my house. Unless of course he is willing to throw down some booze money…. And give me a ride to the store…. And teach me to hit a home run…

Beer brewing may seem like a daunting task but once you give a try you will realize how easy it actually is. Most home brew kits come with a book and there are plenty of online resources. You can get a good kit for less than $200 for beer or wine. This all in one kit shown is quite expensive at over $4000. Though it does include a kegging system and a burner. But still you could build a similar setup yourself for about a grand I would guess.
